Five tips for a healthy new year.
1) Clear out the "clutter" foods.
Foods that do not serve a healthy purpose should be put in a disposal bin. OK> Allow for one item, (eg. dark chocolate) to stay on the top shelf- maybe out of reach, so you will reach less for it.
2) Be mindful of what you are feeding your gut as it is important to your brain health, as well as your overall health
3) Eat healthy fats, as found in nuts, seeds, coconut oil, avocado and fish
4) Reach for colourful foods more often. The more anti-oxidants from plant-based foods- the better; to ward off potential disease and free radical damage
5) Have on-hand pre-made home-cooked soups and salads/snacks, so you will be able to satisfy your hunger and nutritional needs in a flash and not be tempted to snack on less healthy food. Batch cooking can be a viable solution to busy households.
