Scan Me Home
One night back in January 2009, I had just got home from work and on my way into the house I noticed a dog wandering past my garage… (which was odd, because I lived in a remote rural area.) She was very cautious about coming over to me at first, but when I was able to, I looked at the tag that was on her collar. There was a name and number! I put the dog (beautiful Golden Retriever) into my garage and ran into the house to call her owner.
The number was "out of service."
Now what? It was close to 10pm... I called all the local shelters and animal controls and left messages for them to call me. No one called until the following day. So I had to look after this girl as best I could, not knowing whether it was safe to feed her, etc.
We made it through the night. The animal control finally returned my calls around noon and came to pick "Jessie" a couple of hours later.
This experience … along with my understanding of the power of the 'QR Code' has led me to start Scan Me Home. If Jessie had been wearing a Scan Me Home tag, I would have been able to get her home much faster… and I would have had access to all the information about her, including any health/diet issues and whether it was safe to feed her.
It is my heart's desire to help many, many more pets to get home faster. Thank you for sharing my dream
How "Scan Me Home" Pet Tags will help you
Thousands of pets are lost each year and statistics show that the majority of them are euthanized. Let's change that!
Scan Me Home pet tags are easily scanned by any smart phone ~ which provides the animal's "finder" with instant information. No need to upset the pet and take it to the nearest Vet to scan a microchip. If you do not have a smart phone, simply go to our website and enter the serial number on the tag... which will provide you with the same profile page.
Each pet profile includes: a photograph of the animal, contact information (up to 3 phone numbers) the pet's date of birth & breed; the veterinarian, rabies, registration and microchip number; gender, medical and dietary information. There is even an additional information section where you can add anything you want about your pet. If your pet is lost the person who finds them will have all of the information they need to take care of your pet and quickly contact you to return him/her home safely. How are Scan Me Home pet tags better than other pet tagging options?
Affordable, easy to use. There are 2 ways to get instant extensive information about the pet. You have the ability to update your pets information any time. There's no need for any other tags ~ all of your pet's information (rabies number, registration number, etc.) is all viewed when your Scan Me Home pet tag is scanned.
Micro Chips: More costly and not visible. Micro chips must be scanned by a veterinarian, humane society or shelter. Micro chips require a visit to the Veterinarian to be implanted. There is no immediate access to contact information and they usually require costly recurring fees. With a micro chip, your pet still needs to wear other tags.
Standard tags: There's no way to update contact information, unless another tag is purchased. There's no room to include veterinarian information, alternative contact methods, medical information or any other additional information. Again, your pet still needs to wear other tags for rabies vaccination, etc.
